Crazy eyed race-huckster Harris Perry should be in a padded cell, but this is Obamerica, and so ?MSNBC puts her on a soapbox?to spew commie propaganda. Harris-Perry is the prototype of ?how stupid and ignorant a progressive wackademic can be.
Collectivism is a mental illness which??includes??brain washing instead of educating, ?and Harris Perry ?tells us in all seriousness that our kids belong not to the parents but to the state.
Fortunately, parents have been raising children without the help of socialist or communist governments throughout human history. What would make a rational person think they could not take care of self and family without the help of government hand outs or government education?
Harris-Perry believes that our view of parenting isn?t sufficiently collectivist:
Breitbart:
The visual of MSNBC hosts raising my children is certainly enough to give me chills but that?s not the real problem here. Actually, there are two problems. First up is the presumption that we?re not collectivist enough.
We have universal K-12 education and networks of community colleges and state schools supported by low-interest government loans. Some college is available to almost everyone who wants to work at it.? Plus we have a President proposing universal pre-school which, if it were to pass, would mean kids enter public care starting at age 3 and continuing until they are at least 17-18. This isn?t communal enough?
The second problem with Harris-Perry?s argument is her contention that we haven?t invested enough in public education. In fact, the U.S. spends?more per pupil?than nearly every other first world nation but, unfortunately, the results we get for those dollars are worse than other countries in terms of math and science scores.
One of the chief reasons we?re stuck spending so much and getting so little are teacher?s unions which make firing bad teacher?s all but impossible. And who supports teacher?s unions despite their negative effect on state budgets and student performance? MSNBC and progressives like Melissa Harris-Perry.

NewsBusters:
On March 23, ?Mark Finkelstein noted how MSNBC?s Melissa Harris-Perry considers the unborn child a ?thing? which takes a ?lot of money? to ?turn into a human,? costing thousands of dollars to care for each year of his/her life. Now it appears that Harris-Perry thinks that, after they?re born, children fundamentally belong to the state.
Narrating a new MSNBC ?Lean Forward? spot, the Tulane professor laments that we in America ?haven?t had a very collective notion that these are our children.? ?[W]e have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to their communities,? Harris-Perry argued.
?Once it?s everybody?s responsibility and not just the households, then we start making better investments.? By ?investments,? of course, Harris-Perry means things like spending ?as much in public education as we should have.?
Of course, if as Harris-Perry holds,?[t]he cost to raise a child [is] $10,000 a year up to $20,000 a year,? and if children should be viewed as collectively ?owned? by ?society,? then taken to its logical extension, a woman?s choices about having a child should be informed by the economic considerations of the ?community,? would it not? But of course, that logic would take someone to justify, for example, the ?one-child? policy in Communist China.
What?s more, the notion of collective responsibility for children was a philosophy that undergirded the Cultural Revolution in Communist China under Chairman Mao. I bring that up because, as you may recall, another Harris-Perry ?Lean Forward? spot contains a reference to a ?great leap forward,? which calls to mind the disastrous agricultural reform plan which starved millions of Chinese to death in the 1950s.
